Working on new improvements to Dynamic Content Widget
We are currently working on pop-up help and automatic template creation. This will take a while.

Dynamic Content Widget 0.4 released
This version features automatic slug checking that makes the widget easier to use. Here’s the rest of the description:
A Swiss Army Knife for WordPress developers. With this WordPress widget, you can enter a slug or id, select a template you created, and the widget will render the content, in a local loop, according to your selected template. Very handy for things like:
- Pinning content (pages and posts) to the homepage.
- Rendering arbitrary content (pages and posts) in a sidebar or other widget area.
- Define WordPress widget areas, write subtemplates with your own HTML, render content any way you want.
- Many more uses.

New use cases added to show the versatility of Dynamic Content Widget
We have made two use cases that show how Dynamic Content Widget can make your life as a developer easier.
In other news, a new release is coming up, hopefully tomorrow. It will have an automatic ajax check to see if the slug is valid. Major improvement, and there’s more to come.

Upcoming improvements to Dynamic Content Widget
Working on the some UI improvements to Dynamic Content Widget:
- Check to validate the entered slug in the widget instead of when rendering. Easier to use, and saves a query in the front end.
- Automatic creation of example in the theme directory, by pressing a button. So you don’t have to use the instructions on this site anymore.
- Example template will have some more explanation.
- Autocomplete for slug entry, will make it possible to just enter the title instead of having to look up the slug.
Going to take a while though. Stay tuned.

Dynamic Content Widget released
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/dynamic-content-widget/
Released the Dynamic Content Widget. Here’s the description:
With this WordPress widget, you can enter a slug or id, select a template part, and the widget will render the content according to your selected template. Very handy for things like:
- Pinning content (pages and posts) to the homepage.
- Rendering arbitrary content (pages and posts) in a sidebar or other widget area.
- Many more uses.
Very simple, but also very powerful and versatile. Also may be difficult to use for people who are not into template hacking, so if you don’t know php, this widget isn’t for you.

Release of Dynamic Content Widget delayed slightly
We were hoping to release the Dynamic Content Widget on Monday, but there were some extra hoops we needed to jump through, that apparently are more time consuming than we anticipated. Live and learn.
Update: Finally got approved. Release set for tonight.

New site design – Brown, beige, red, off-white and orange
After the initial design I had some new ideas and implemented them. The logo has improved, the layout has improved. Heck, everything has improved.
The animation of the star behind the logo uses the HTML5 canvas element, and only works on browsers that are not Internet Explorer. I could have done it in Flash, but I don’t like flash. It is kind of silly that modern mobile phones can display the animation easily, but not Microsoft’s browser. IE9 will support canvas though, so I guess the animation will work in the future.

Progress in project X
New additions to project X:
- Menu now templated and customizable. Working on hook to transparently override the default menu.
- New widget for custom menu.
- New widget for category list
- Made a prototype for customizable gallery support. Works like a charm, but needs to be fleshed out.
- First steps towards a new and better templating engine.

New webhost
Switched to another host that has proven to be stable and affordable for other sites I developed. They offer limited resources but just enough. Prices are amazing. Check them out at one.com.
Oh yeah and they have “unlimited” bandwidth, unless of course it violates their idea of “unlimited.” We’ll see.
